About Miora Health

Miora Health is a biotechnology company using microbiome science and AI to transform maternal care by enabling earlier, non-invasive screening for pregnancy-related risks.
Miora develops at-home tests powered by next-generation sequencing and proprietary AI models to screen for pregnancy complications earlier than current standards and provide personalized, evidence-based insights for patients and clinicians.
No. Miora is a screening company. Our tests estimate risk and provide early insight but do not diagnose, treat, or cure any medical condition.
Miora is a clinical innovation company grounded in scientific research. We conduct rigorous research and clinical validation, with a focus on developing tools that can be integrated into real prenatal care.
Miora currently offers a Gut Wellness Test to the public. Our gestational diabetes screening test is still in clinical validation and is not yet commercially released.

Gestational Diabetes Screening

It is a non-invasive, at-home stool-based screening test that uses microbiome sequencing and AI to estimate the risk of developing gestational diabetes earlier than standard glucose testing.
No. The test is a screening tool only. It does not diagnose gestational diabetes and does not replace standard clinical testing.
The test is designed for use in the first trimester, typically between 8 and 16 weeks of pregnancy.
No. Patients should still complete the standard OGTT later in pregnancy as recommended by clinical guidelines.
Standard screening occurs after gestational diabetes has already developed. Earlier screening may allow more time for monitoring, counseling, and proactive care planning.

Science, AI & Validation

Miora analyzes gut microbiome bacterial abundances from stool samples and identifies biomarkers associated with future gestational diabetes risk.
AI is used to analyze microbiome biomarkers alongside clinical factors such as age and BMI to generate a personalized risk estimate. The AI does not make diagnoses.
A pilot study has been completed showing promising signals. Larger validation studies are currently underway with clinical partners.
Miora has published a peer-reviewed review summarizing evidence linking gut microbiome changes to gestational diabetes, along with a growing body of independent research supporting these associations.
Research has shown that women who later develop gestational diabetes often experience measurable changes in their gut microbiome months before standard glucose testing identifies the condition.

Results, Recommendations & Follow-Up

Results provide an estimated risk of developing gestational diabetes based on microbiome biomarkers and clinical factors, along with explanations of which biomarkers are in or out of range.
A higher-risk result means your profile resembles patterns seen in pregnancies that later developed gestational diabetes, while a lower-risk result resembles pregnancies that did not.
Yes. Reports include personalized, evidence-based nutrition and probiotic recommendations linked to specific biomarkers.
Yes. The microbiome is dynamic and can change with diet, probiotics, medications, and normal pregnancy changes.
Yes. Reports can be downloaded and shared with an OB, midwife, or other healthcare provider.

Privacy, Safety & Regulation

Yes. The test is non-invasive and involves only at-home stool collection, which poses no risk to the pregnant woman or baby.
Yes. Miora follows HIPAA requirements and uses HIPAA-compliant infrastructure to protect patient data.
No. Miora does not sell patient data or share identifiable data with third parties.
Samples are processed in Miora’s laboratory located in Farmington, Connecticut.
No. The test is a CLIA-regulated laboratory-developed test and is not diagnostic, so it does not require FDA approval.

Gut Wellness Test

The Miora Gut Wellness Test is an at-home stool test that uses next-generation sequencing and microbiome science to provide personalized insight into gut health, including digestion, metabolism, immune function, and overall wellness.
The Gut Wellness Test is for individuals experiencing digestive issues such as bloating or irregular bowel movements, people with food sensitivities or autoimmune concerns, those looking to optimize diet and metabolic health, and anyone interested in understanding their gut microbiome.
The test measures the abundance of bacteria in the gut microbiome and compares them to healthy reference levels. It also evaluates microbiome diversity, metabolic balance, and gut barrier integrity.
Results include analysis of beneficial and potentially harmful microbes, insights related to digestion, metabolism, immune function, and the gut–brain connection, along with research-based recommendations to support gut health.
Yes. The results include personalized, research-based recommendations built using published microbiome science to help support digestion, metabolic health, immune balance, and overall gut wellness.
